Kenya Kwanza MPs Threaten To Impeach Treasury CS, Njuguna Ndung’u

Members of Parliament aligned with the Kenya Kwanza coalition are calling for the resignation of Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u, threatening impeachment if he does not step down.

Tongaren MP John Chikati and Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku, speaking on Citizen TV’s Daybreak Show, accused CS Ndung’u of incompetence, alleging that he failed to implement President William Ruto’s agenda and exposed the government to ridicule from the Opposition.

Chikati, also the Ford Kenya Party Secretary General, pointed to delays in disbursing the NG-CDF for student bursaries as evidence of the CS frustrating parliamentarians. He stated their intention to initiate signatures for Ndung’u’s removal, citing one year of perceived incompetence and lack of communication with MPs regarding the CDF delay.

Chikati further accused Ndung’u of impracticality in financial affairs, criticizing his communication style and lack of tangible results despite being in office for over a year. MP Ruku criticized Ndung’u for being a ‘crybaby’ and lacking solid management skills, urging him to resign if unable to fulfill his role in liability management.

Fred Okango, Azimio coalition Secretary for Political Affairs, mocked the Kenya Kwanza legislators on the show, questioning their sudden push for impeachment and highlighting their responsibility in endorsing leaders without proper scrutiny.

Okango expressed satisfaction in assisting the removal of incompetent CSs and suggested that this was a realization moment for the Kenya Kwanza MPs.
