Imenti North Legislator Rahim Dawood commends the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation for granting comprehensive scholarships to some of the most underprivileged students in the constituency.
He underscores the potential of this initiative to elevate education in remote and disadvantaged areas, ultimately contributing to the improvement of their economic conditions. The scholarships encompass fees, uniforms, living expenses, and transportation costs for students commuting to and from their schools.
This stands in contrast to the bursaries typically provided by the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF). The scholarships are expected to significantly contribute to ensuring that recipients receive education and can pursue their future life aspirations.
Rahim urges other philanthropic individuals or organizations to consider sponsoring additional students to enhance literacy levels. He also appeals to the Ministry of Finance to promptly release NG-CDF funds to facilitate the provision of bursaries to learners who have traditionally relied on the foundation for their education.
While the Foundation received 284 applications, indicating a considerable need for support, there remains a necessity for more interventions to guarantee access to education for disadvantaged learners.
