In a public notice, the authority stated that the updated CRSP will guide the determination of customs value for used car imports. The revision follows in-depth consultations with industry stakeholders to ensure that the new pricing reflects market realities and input from key players.

“The revised CRSP list is now available on the KRA website,” the notice said.

KRA urged importers, clearing agents, and other relevant parties to review the updated price list and familiarize themselves with the new valuation method ahead of the implementation.

The Commissioner for Customs and Border Control emphasized the need for full compliance and encouraged stakeholders to prepare accordingly.

KRA also used the opportunity to remind taxpayers of the ongoing tax amnesty program.

CRSP is the official pricing standard KRA uses to determine import duties on secondhand vehicles. Rather than applying a fixed retail price, KRA will now assess taxes based on the actual purchase price of the car, supported by documentation such as invoices and receipts.

The vehicle’s value will also be adjusted for depreciation, meaning older vehicles will attract lower taxes.

According to the revised CRSP list, for example, importing a Toyota Vitz Hybrid F will now be valued at Sh3,440,622, while a Mazda CX-5 20S will be valued at Sh6,839,016.
