Tuesday 27th  marked a pivotal moment in the history of Kitui County as the Minister responsible for Land, Housing, and Urban Development, Fredrick Kimanga, unveiled a transformative Ksh. 6 million sanitation project aimed at advancing community development.

The initiative, funded by the European Union’s Water Trust Fund and spearheaded by Kitui Water and Sanitation Company (KIWASCO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, stands as a testament to the commitment to elevate the quality of life for all residents.

In a ceremony held in Kabati, Minister Kimanga expressed his unwavering dedication to enhancing the environment and infrastructure of the region. He stated, “Our efforts extend beyond the mere construction of facilities; they encompass a holistic approach to fostering sustainable growth and prosperity.”

One of the highlights of the project is the installation of streetlights in Kabati, illuminating the streets and creating a safer environment for businesses to operate around the clock. Minister Kimanga emphasized that this initiative not only enhances security but also promotes a vibrant, 24-hour economic system beneficial to all.

Moreover, the Minister revealed plans for a green initiative aimed at planting over 80 trees in and around the facility. These trees will not only beautify the surroundings but also contribute to environmental conservation efforts for generations to come. Additionally, enhancements to Kabati Market, including the installation of walkways, cabrols, and concrete benches, will further elevate the aesthetics and functionality of communal spaces.
