Kitui: Governor Malombe Launches Pro-Poor Fees Support Scheme

Kitui County on Friday marked a significant mileston in its commitment to ensuring equitable access to education for all, regardless of socioeconomic background.

Governor Malombe’s initiative to launch the sh. 86.4 million Pro Poor Fees Support Scheme demonstrates a significant commitment to addressing educational disparities in Kitui County, particularly among needy learners.

The scheme aims to distribute funds to over 11,000 beneficiaries across 40 wards, with a focus on improving access, retention, and transition rates in learning institutions. Prioritizing support for vocational training centers and secondary school learners underscores the government’s dedication to empowering youth through education. This proactive approach is expected to mitigate absenteeism and enhance academic performance, ultimately contributing to a brighter future for the children of Kitui.

“Education is the cornerstone of development, and yet, far too many promising minds are held back by financial barriers,” stated Governor Malombe. “This Pro-Poor Bursary Program is our response to this challenge. It is a testament to our unwavering dedication to uplifting the most vulnerable members of our society and providing them with the tools they need to thrive.”

The Pro-Poor Bursary Program will provide financial assistance to deserving students from low-income households, enabling them to pursue their educational dreams without the burden of financial constraints. By investing in their education, the county aims to empower individuals and contribute to the future prosperity of the community and nation as a whole.
