The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecasted that moderate to heavy rainfall will persist across various parts of the country.
The department has advised the public to remain vigilant, as certain areas could experience intense rainfall, with amounts exceeding 50mm within 24 hours.
The weather forecast for Monday, November 25, to Wednesday, November 27, indicates that rain and thunderstorms will affect regions in the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and parts of the Rift Valley, including counties such as Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.
The same conditions of rain, showers, and thunderstorms are also expected in the north-western areas of Turkana and Samburu Counties.
In the Highlands east of the Rift Valley, there will be chances of morning rain, followed by afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Affected areas include Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka counties.
The north-eastern region, including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo, will experience morning rains, afternoon showers, and thunderstorms, with evening showers expected as well.
Similarly, the south-eastern lowlands, including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, as well as inland parts of Tana River County, will experience similar weather patterns.
On the coast, Kenya Met predicts showers in some areas on Monday and Tuesday. By Wednesday, the region will experience sunny intervals in the morning, followed by a chance of showers in the afternoon, and partly cloudy conditions in the evening. This will affect Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and coastal Tana River counties.
Kenya Met also noted that temperatures across the country are expected to be warmer than usual, with the highest likelihood of elevated temperatures in the central and eastern regions.
