Kenya Airways Confirms Return to Normal Operations at Kisumu Airport

Flight operations have resumed at Kisumu International Airport following the clearance of the runway.

Kenya Airways (KQ) confirmed in a statement on Friday that flights to and from Kisumu are now operating as scheduled. The Kenya Aviation Authority (KAA) and Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) conducted safety operations and declared the runway safe for use.

KQ expressed apologies for any inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their patience. They assured that passenger and crew safety remains their top priority.

The resumption of operations follows the clearing of the runway after a Kenya Airways plane experienced a bird strike. Despite all passengers being evacuated safely, the aircraft couldn’t fully exit the runway due to steering issues resulting from the bird strike.

KQ mentioned that affected passengers will receive updated travel information and assistance as necessary.
