The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has filed a lawsuit against Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi and 13 others, seeking to recover more than Ksh. 813 million allegedly obtained through fraudulent road construction tenders.
In court documents filed at the High Court in Nairobi, EACC accuses Wamatangi of abusing his position as the former Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Roads, Transportation, and Housing to influence tender awards to companies linked to him.

The alleged graft occurred between the 2018/2019 and 2021/2022 financial years, involving contracts awarded by KeNHA, KURA, and KeRRA.
Investigations revealed that the governor colluded with several firms by submitting falsified bid documents and misrepresenting their technical capacity to win contracts “to the detriment of the public.”
EACC claims Wamatangi hid his ownership of the companies by transferring directorships to family members and associates, while still controlling the firms’ bank accounts as a signatory.
The implicated companies include Quick Fix Auto Garage Ltd, King Realtors Co. Ltd, King Group Co. Ltd, King Construction Co. Ltd, and Lub Plus Oil & Energy Co. Ltd.

These firms allegedly received Ksh. 726 million from KeNHA and KURA, and an additional Ksh. 86 million from KeRRA — totaling Ksh. 813,145,532.40, which EACC says are proceeds of corruption.
The commission is also seeking preservation orders to freeze the defendants’ assets pending the case’s outcome.
Justice Lucy Njuguna has directed EACC to serve all parties and scheduled the injunction hearing for November 18, 2025.
