Kawangware: Church Service Disrupted As Bishop Demands a Prado

About a month ago, Cape Media Africa covered an incident in Kawangware, Nairobi, where a church service was abruptly ended after some members walked out in protest when the bishop requested them to purchase a Landcruiser Prado for him.

The occurrence on Sunday, December 10, did not sit well with the congregation. Reportedly, disgruntled members chanted and displayed placards outside the church with messages such as ‘Bishop must go.’

Expressing his disappointment, the bishop conveyed his frustration to the congregation, citing their inability to raise funds for the Prado. He mentioned feeling embarrassed when meeting other pastors with more luxurious cars.

According to the church’s finance manager, despite financial constraints expressed by the members, the bishop insisted on the car demand. He alleged that the members had declined to buy the Prado after fundraising a substantial amount for a school bus.

Additionally, members claimed that the bishop occasionally targeted church leaders in his sermons, with one interpreter struggling to translate statements aimed at specific individuals within the congregation.
