Kasmuel: Broad-Based Youth to Take Issues Directly to Gov’t

Political activist Kasmuel McOure has announced that the Broad-Based Youth Front will start directly lobbying the government on issues affecting young people, marking a move away from relying on political intermediaries.

McOure said the youth movement would not take guidance from politicians who were absent during last year’s youth-led demonstrations, criticizing some leaders for attempting to reinsert themselves into youth matters without genuine commitment.

“We are in this Broad-Based Government until it fully delivers its mandate, and we intend to own that process to the very end. We will not be swayed by opportunistic rhetoric. Starting today, we will lobby the government directly through a unified youth front,” he said.

He added that the youth front would advocate for accountability and reforms addressing the needs of Kenya’s largest demographic.

McOure has also urged Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) elected officials to honor the Broad-Based political arrangement between ODM and UDA, emphasizing that it was designed to promote national unity and stability.

In a statement to ODM leaders and members, he stressed that the party had agreed to the arrangement at the leadership level, including coordinated electoral cooperation, and warned against internal disputes being used to mislead supporters.

“Elected members of ODM must not engage in political maneuvering. You supported this arrangement in boardrooms and must not oppose it publicly. Don’t use internal differences to confuse supporters,” McOure said.

He also called on party members to ensure that spokespersons’ statements are not misused against the party or its candidates.
