Kasipul MP Murder: Two Suspects Arrested, Vehicle and Motorcycles Seized

Two individuals connected to the murder of Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Were have been arrested.

Police sources familiar with the investigation revealed that the suspects were taken into custody during a Saturday night operation led by a specialized team from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) based at their headquarters.

The operation, which took place in Nairobi’s Eastlands area, also resulted in the recovery of a vehicle and three motorcycles believed to have been used to track the late MP prior to his shooting.

However, authorities have yet to recover the murder weapon.

MP Charles Were was fatally shot on Thursday at the Kenyatta Hospital roundabout on Ngong Road in Nairobi. Reports indicate that a lone gunman fired at least four shots at close range before fleeing the scene on a sport bike.

Investigators, who have been retracing the MP’s final movements, are relying on CCTV footage and witness testimonies from his driver and bodyguard to identify the assailant.

At the crime scene, police found three bullet holes in the passenger side of the vehicle and bloodstains on the console, indicating a meticulously planned execution carried out by a hired assassin.

On Thursday, detectives expanded their inquiry to Parliament, where MP Were had spent most of the day attending his duties. Reports suggest the MP left Parliament shortly before 7:00 p.m., accompanied by his driver and bodyguard.
