“We hope the former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, will win the AUC chairmanship bid. If he succeeds, those of us who remain will contest for the top position in the next election.”

Kalonzo was joined by Nairobi Senator and ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, along with other leaders.

They emphasized their commitment to fighting for the rights of Kenyans.

In 2024, Kalonzo stated that those of them still in the Azimio coalition would continue to support the Kenyan people in their pursuit of better governance.

“Those of us remaining in Azimio are committed to standing with the people, and that’s why we proudly call ourselves the loyal opposition,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sifuna issued a warning to any members of the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) considering leaving the party.

He confirmed his dedication to ODM, urging those who are tired of fighting for Kenyans to leave the party.

Speaking at a church service on Sunday, Sifuna remarked that some members had lost sight of the party’s core values.

“There are people in ODM who have forgotten the party’s origins and what it stands for. Some are telling me they’re tired of speaking up for Kenyans, claiming they weren’t born to stay in the opposition. They’re saying they’re done fighting for the rights of Kenyans,” Sifuna said.

“I want to make it clear that I will continue standing for what’s right. If something is wrong, we will speak out. Those who are tired of fighting for Kenyans and standing for the truth should leave ODM.”

Sifuna added that the path to liberating a country is challenging and may take time.

“Some of you just joined ODM recently, only two weeks before nominations, and now you’re already tired, saying you want to join the government,” he concluded.
