William Kabogo, the nominee for ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary.

Kabogo: My Net Worth is Sh3.01 Billion

William Kabogo, the nominee for ICT and Digital Economy CS, has disclosed that his net worth is Sh3.01 billion in assets.

Appearing before the National Assembly Committee on Appointments on Tuesday, Kabogo explained that his wealth includes residential properties, movable assets, cash, land, and farms.

“My total net worth stands at Sh3.01 billion, with Sh700 million in residential properties, approximately Sh40 million in movable assets, and around Sh64 million in cash and current assets,” Kabogo stated.

He also mentioned that he owns land and farms valued at about Sh756 million and holds approximately Sh1.5 billion in interests and shares.

Kabogo shared that he once owned a helicopter in his younger years but sold it after he couldn’t fly as much. “I was a pilot and could fly it myself, but when I couldn’t fly frequently anymore, I decided to sell it,” he said.

If confirmed by MPs, Kabogo will take over the role previously held by former ICT CS, Margaret Ndung’u.

Kabogo emphasized that his experience as the Governor of Kiambu would enable him to drive transformative policies in the Ministry of Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy.

Having also served as Juja MP, he stated that he is familiar with the digital space, giving him an advantage. “I believe I am well-suited for this role because during my tenure in Kiambu, I digitized the entire revenue collection system,” he explained.

Kabogo highlighted that this initiative helped Kiambu County triple its annual revenue from Sh800 million to Sh2.7 billion in just 14 months.

He also mentioned that he digitalized the county’s healthcare systems, ensuring smoother operations for doctors treating patients across Kiambu’s hospitals. Additionally, he set up an information management system that allowed him to monitor activities across all county ministries in real time.

During his time as Kiambu governor, Kabogo attributed the significant increase in revenue to the automation of payment systems, which enabled residents to pay for services through mobile money and credit cards.
