JSC Postpones Court of Appeal Judge Interviews

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to delay the scheduled interviews for the position of Judge of the Court of Appeal, originally planned from June 18 to June 21.

This postponement was announced by Winfridah Mokaya, the JSC secretary, who explained that it was a gesture of solidarity with the judiciary following the recent passing of Principal Judge Monica Kivuti of the Makadara Law Courts.

“The Commission expresses solidarity with the Judiciary in mourning and honoring the life and service of Hon. Kivuti,” stated the JSC in a Sunday media release. They added, “In light of these circumstances, we regret any inconvenience caused. A revised schedule for the interviews will be published in due course.”

Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti tragically passed away on Saturday after sustaining gunshot wounds during an incident at the Makadara Law Courts, where Chief Inspector Samson Kipchirchir Kipruto fatally shot her.

The OCS was subsequently shot dead by responding officers, while a court orderly and two others were injured in the attempt to secure the courtroom and assist the magistrate.
