Bumula Member of Parliament Jack Wamboka expressed concerns for his safety following his submission of a motion to impeach Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi over the fertilizer scandal.
Wamboka, who has received threats, urged the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetangula, to swiftly approve the motion.
Stressing the necessity of the impeachment to address corruption and expedite compensation for farmers, Wamboka emphasized that it aims to rectify irregularities in the ministry and safeguard farmers from fraudulent fertilizer deals.
Supported by 110 legislators, he underscored the recurrence of scandals in the Ministry of Agriculture, undermining farmers’ trust and hindering government efforts to ensure food security.
Wamboka outlined the motion’s basis on allegations of misconduct, constitutional violations, and breach of public trust, presenting evidence of negligence and potential criminal activities within the ministry.
He called on fellow lawmakers to endorse the motion, clarifying that it’s not politically driven but rooted in accountability.
Signatories to the motion include MPs from various political affiliations, indicating bipartisan support for the impeachment process.
