In Kitise, Makueni County, a nine-month-old baby drowned in a bucket of water at home.
According to police, the infant was being bathed by his nine-year-old brother when the tragedy occurred. The child was found unresponsive in the bucket and was taken to the mortuary pending a postmortem.

The baby’s mother told officers that she had briefly left the child in the care of the older siblings at the time of the incident.
In a separate incident, a 15-year-old boy has lost his life after a sand harvesting incident in Kendu Bay, Homa Bay County.

Police said the teenager, a student at Kamser Junior Secondary School, was digging sand with others when the mound collapsed and buried him.
He died on the spot. His body was later taken to the mortuary as authorities await a postmortem examination.
