Six individuals, including one passenger and five flight attendants, sustained injuries during a hard landing of an American Airlines flight at Kahului Airport in Hawaii on Saturday.
American Airlines informed CNN that Flight 271, traveling from Los Angeles (LAX) to Maui (OGG), encountered a problem upon landing at OGG. The aircraft managed to taxi to the gate under its own power, and passengers disembarked without incident.
All six injured individuals were taken to a hospital for treatment and were later discharged. The flight had 167 passengers and seven crew members onboard.
Following the incident, the aircraft was taken out of service for inspection by the airline’s maintenance team. American Airlines emphasized that the safety of both passengers and crew members remains their utmost priority.
Hawaii’s transportation department confirmed to CNN that the airline experienced a hard landing at Kahului Airport on Saturday afternoon.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that it will conduct an investigation into the hard landing, as stated on their website. The incident involved American Airlines Flight 271, an Airbus A320, landing on Runway 20 at Kahului Airport at approximately 2 p.m. local time.
