Police said the victim was attacked at his home by four armed suspects who demanded money and valuables. A struggle ensued, during which the assailants fired shots, killing him on the spot. He sustained gunshot wounds at close range.

The attackers escaped with an unknown amount of cash and gold, fleeing on a motorcycle towards the Kenya–Tanzania border. Police noted that the area is near a porous frontier.

Officers later visited the scene and transferred the body to a mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted as investigations continue.

Police also raised concern over a recent increase in robberies targeting people involved in gold trading in the region, saying the trend is under active investigation.
