Gachagua emphasized that Raila’s perspective on the world and his advocacy for the African people make him the most qualified person to lead the continent into the future.

“Kenya’s finest, Raila Odinga, is undoubtedly the best option for the African Union Commission chairmanship. Africa deserves the best,” he remarked.

He added that Africa needs someone like Raila Odinga to unify both Anglophone and Francophone nations in building a prosperous future for the continent.

The term “Anglophone” and “Francophone” often highlights the influence of language on political views, conflicts, and governance in multilingual countries, especially where language is tied to historical and political issues.

Gachagua further pointed out that Raila’s victory in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, would solidify his pursuit of the African spirit, which Raila has long championed.

He stressed that Raila’s success would be a positive and progressive development for Africa, also benefiting Kenya.

“The win of Raila Odinga will be good for Africa and a victory for Kenya, our motherland,” Gachagua noted.

The AUC chair elections are set for Saturday, February 15, in Addis Ababa.

Raila is competing against Mahamoud Ali Youssouf of Djibouti and Richard Randriamandrato of Madagascar in a highly competitive race.

A last-minute push by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) has made the contest more challenging, as the 16-member states have been urged to support Randriamandrato.

Raila had been relying on backing from SADC countries to bolster his chances against his opponents.

According to African Union procedures, voting will be conducted via secret ballot, and the process will continue until one candidate secures two-thirds of the 55 AU member states’ votes, which is 33 votes.
