Gachagua Engages in Discussions with UDA Officials Prior to Grassroots Elections

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua convened a meeting with key figures of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party on Tuesday, in anticipation of the upcoming grassroots elections.

This gathering followed a session held a week ago by President William Ruto and Gachagua alongside the UDA National Steering Committee (NSC), where they revealed the roadmap for the party’s grassroots polls.

The objective of Tuesday’s meeting was to further strategize on the phased elections slated to commence this month in specific counties, preceding subsequent county and national-level polls later this year.

Gachagua emphasized that the discussions aimed to foster collaboration and consultation within the party, with a focus on enhancing its structure and ensuring the effective implementation of the UDA Manifesto.

Taking to his social media platform, Gachagua shared insights from the meeting, which took place at the Official Residence in Karen, involving prominent UDA officials such as party Chairperson Cecily Mbarire, Secretary General Cleophas Malala, and others including National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungw’ah and Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot.

In its recent deliberations, the UDA NSC outlined a phased approach to the elections and announced the appointment of a new national elections board to oversee the process.

The initial phase of UDA’s elections is scheduled for April 26, 2024, encompassing seven counties including Nairobi, Narok, and West-Pokot among others.

Subsequent phases will follow, with the second phase slated for June 22, 2024, covering 13 counties such as Mombasa, Uasin Gishu, and Kisii. The third phase, scheduled for August 10, 2024, will span 15 counties, and the final phase, occurring on August 24, 2024, will involve 12 counties.

This meticulous approach underscores UDA’s commitment to conducting comprehensive and inclusive grassroots elections across various regions in the nation.
