Detectives investigating the killing of lawyer Kyalo Mbobu have recovered a motorcycle allegedly used to transport the suspected gunman to and from the scene of the shooting.
The recovery marks the latest breakthrough in investigations into Mbobu’s murder on September 9, 2025, following the arrest of three suspects, among them a boda boda rider suspected of ferrying the gunman on the day of the attack.
During interrogation, the rider told investigators that he was operating a motorcycle whose registration number has been withheld when the shooting took place.
Detectives then began tracing the motorcycle, following its ownership history and movements until they located it.
The motorcycle was recovered and taken to the Homicide Offices for further examination as investigators continue piecing together what happened before, during and after the fatal shooting.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the rider positively identified the motorcycle when detectives presented it to him.
According to the agency, the suspect confirmed that it was the motorcycle he had used to transport the alleged gunman during the attack.
Detectives have also arrested the man suspected of carrying out the shooting.
Investigators are expected to use the recovered motorcycle to establish the movements of the suspects before and after the incident and to determine the respective roles of those already in custody.
The DCI said detectives were continuing to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to Mbobu’s death and establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.
“With every new piece of evidence, detectives are steadily reconstructing the chain of events surrounding Lawyer Mbobu’s murder,” the agency said.
The motorcycle will also undergo forensic examination to determine whether it contains evidence that could connect it to the shooting or to any of the suspects being investigated.
The DCI said investigators were following all available leads as they worked to establish whether other individuals were involved in the killing.
The agency said its priority was to establish the full circumstances of the murder, identify everyone involved and ensure that those suspected of responsibility face justice.
Mbobu’s killing remains under investigation as detectives continue seeking to establish the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The DCI has urged anyone with information that could assist investigators to come forward.
