Defence Cabinet Secretary Adan Duale is scheduled to embark on a four-day official trip to the United States of America starting Monday, where he will be hosted by his counterpart, Lloyd Austin III.
This visit comes in the wake of the signing of a Defense Cooperation Framework on September 25, 2023, in Kenya, aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between Kenya and the U.S.
The framework, effective from 2023 to 2028, aims to enhance cooperation between Kenya and the U.S. in defense technology and innovation, enabling both militaries to effectively address evolving security challenges.
During the visit, discussions between the U.S. and Kenyan delegations will cover various topics, including regional security, the implementation of bilateral counterterrorism frameworks, the impact of climate change, joint training initiatives, maritime security, and opportunities for collaboration among professional military academic institutions.
Additionally, the U.S. has pledged to provide substantial financial and logistical support to the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
CS Duale’s itinerary includes meetings with Acting Deputy Secretary of State Ambassador Victoria Nuland, members of the US National Security Council, and Senators.
Furthermore, the visit will feature a lecture delivered by CS Duale at the National Defence University in Washington DC.
