CS Namwamba Responds To Circulated Video Where Woman Invokes His Name in Confrontation with Hospital Staff

Ababu Namwamba, the Cabinet Secretary for Sports and Youth Affairs, has commented on a widely circulated video in which a woman used his name during a confrontation with hospital staff. The undated video, reportedly filmed at Port Victoria Hospital in Busia County, depicts an unidentified woman and man harassing medical personnel, accusing them of neglecting a patient.

In the chaotic scene, the woman, who created disturbance by throwing files and hitting a table, can be heard threatening to call someone named “Ababu.” She alleges mistreatment of a patient in the emergency room who is struggling to breathe.

After the video gained traction on Wednesday, the individuals involved were linked to CS Ababu Namwamba, a native of Busia County. In a social media post on Thursday morning, Namwamba addressed the public discourse surrounding his name.

“The actions associated with me do not align with my values or commitment to public service. I unequivocally condemn any behavior against principles of integrity. I am thoroughly investigating these allegations and will take decisive actions to rectify any wrongdoing,” Namwamba stated.

The CS reiterated his commitment to “rebuilding trust through transparency and corrective measures.”

The incident has sparked public outrage and condemnation, with KMPDU Secretary General Davji Atellah calling for legal action.

“This is rudimentary, illegal, and immoral. The attitude and action by politicians and their cronies to threaten healthcare workers at their place of work should be curtailed. The safety of healthcare workers is threatened in such facilities. The perpetrators of this heinous act should be brought to book urgently,” Atellah remarked.
