Speaking during Labour Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens, Mutua revealed that his ministry continues to receive numerous complaints about inappropriate conduct, which he said must be urgently addressed.

“My office receives many reports regarding sexual harassment in the workplace,” he stated, warning that such behavior is unacceptable and must stop.

He specifically urged managers to refrain from engaging in romantic relationships with junior employees, citing the need for professionalism and integrity in workplace interactions.

“When a young woman is promoted or hired, she should not be subjected to unwanted advances,” said Mutua. “A manager should not be involved in romantic affairs with subordinates.”

The CS also commended Kenyan workers for their hard work, resilience, and crucial role in national development.

Mutua reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to safeguarding workers’ rights and creating dignified job opportunities, both domestically and abroad.

“As we champion safe, fair, and inclusive workspaces, we continue to expand opportunities and uphold dignity in all sectors,” he said.

Highlighting progress in labor migration, Mutua pointed to government efforts to curb exploitation by unscrupulous agents and promote secure overseas employment.

“We’ve sealed many of the gaps that rogue agents used to exploit,” he said. “Through the ‘Kazi Mtandaoni’ initiative launched by President Ruto, we had around two million Kenyans in digital jobs by 2022, and the number is steadily rising.”

He concluded by affirming the ministry’s commitment to advancing Kenya’s labor sector in line with the president’s economic vision, and called for a shift in social media culture.

“We need to rethink how we use social media—to move away from negativity and instead uplift one another,” he said.
