Dressed casually in a white shirt, dark blue jeans and blue sports shoes, the veteran politician appears relaxed as he keeps his distance in line with the rules before releasing the ball toward the basket.
The ball drops cleanly through the net, prompting a brief pause of satisfaction before Kalonzo turns to address the camera.
Using the sporting moment to connect with Kenyans beyond politics, he then shares his Christmas and New Year wishes, offering a glimpse of his more personal side.
In his message, Kalonzo acknowledged the economic and social difficulties many Kenyans are experiencing during the festive season. He encouraged citizens to stay resilient and to support one another, especially those facing hardship, stressing the importance of unity, compassion and hope.
“Fellow Patriots, I wish you and your families a peaceful and blessed Christmas,” he said in a message accompanying the video and photos.
“May this season remind us of love, unity and compassion as we stand together during these challenging times. Let us care for one another, uplift the vulnerable, and keep hope alive for a just and better Kenya. Merry Christmas and a hopeful New Year.”
