According to family spokesperson Eric Nyongesa, Chebukati underwent two successful surgeries in Germany to remove brain tumors.
However, his health deteriorated in December 2024 when a third tumor reappeared. During treatment, he suffered a cardiac arrest, and efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
Chebukati, who retired in January 2023 after overseeing the 2022 General Election, will be buried on March 8 at his farm in Saboti, Trans Nzoia County.
