The operation involved officers from the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) and the National Police Service, with support from the County Command.
Acting on intelligence, the team raided a suspected hideout believed to be at the center of a local drug distribution network. Authorities recovered over 300 rolls of cannabis, a full stone of cannabis, assorted chewable tobacco products, and cannabis-laced cookies allegedly intended for sale to minors.
Officials described the haul as alarming, highlighting the deliberate targeting of children through edible products.

NACADA CEO Dr. Anthony Omerikwa said the raid forms part of intensified nationwide operations during the festive season, aimed at dismantling drug networks and protecting vulnerable groups.
“Our intelligence shows these traffickers have been deliberately targeting school children and youth,” Dr. Omerikwa said, warning that such practices pose a serious threat to the country’s future.

He also sent a stern warning to drug dealers, stating, “Your time is up. We are coming for you, your networks, and your profits.”
The operation, named Operation on Narcotics, reflects the government’s zero-tolerance approach to drug trafficking and abuse.

The three suspects are being held at Langas Police Station and are expected to be arraigned in court. Authorities have urged the public to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities, emphasizing that the crackdown is aimed at safeguarding communities, especially during the festive season.
