CS Ogamba Announces November/December 2024 CBET Assessment Results

On Tuesday, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba unveiled the results for the 2024 Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) assessment.

The CS revealed the results at the KICC in Nairobi, noting that the assessment, conducted between October 24 and November 22, 2024, took place at 314 TVET assessment centers.

At level three, 202 candidates were evaluated across various courses, with 120 (59%) being male and 82 (41%) female.

The National Skills certificate included 18 qualifications with 968 units of competency.

At level four, 9,090 candidates were assessed. Of these, 5,153 (57%) were male and 3,936 (43%) were female. The Artisan certificate covered 47 qualifications with 49,391 units of competency.

At level five, 28,878 candidates were assessed, with 14,155 (49%) being male and 14,712 (51%) female. The Craft certificate included 74 qualifications and 150,603 units of competency.

At level six, 27,636 candidates were evaluated, with 14,442 (52%) being male and 13,187 (48%) female. The Diploma certificate contained 100 qualifications and 130,797 units of competency.

Overall, a total of 65,808 candidates were assessed across 239 qualifications, covering 331,759 units of competency, marking a significant 196% increase from the November/December 2023 assessment.

Ogamba also introduced the dual training policy, aimed at equipping TVET students with both theoretical and practical skills to maintain global competitiveness.

He encouraged students to take advantage of government programs like the Hustler Fund and the Youth Enterprise Development Fund to enhance their businesses. He emphasized the importance of skills in areas such as cybersecurity, renewable energy, artificial intelligence (AI), and automation.

Additionally, Ogamba urged women to actively engage in fields traditionally dominated by men. “We must ensure women’s participation in sectors like Engineering and Technology,” he stated.
