Gachagua Hosts Key Kirinyaga Leaders at his Wamunyoro Home

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua hosted a group of Kirinyaga county leaders on Saturday as part of his efforts to strengthen his support base.

The meeting, which followed an earlier gathering with lawyers in the morning, took place at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri.

Among the attendees were Kirinyaga Senator James Murango and Woman Representative Njeri Maina. Several MCAs were also present, including David Mathenge (Baragwi Ward), Kinyua Wangui (Mutira Ward), Moses Maina (Kanyekini Ward), Eric Muchina (Kerugoya), Beatrice Mitaro (Wamumu), and Daisy Githinji (Kabage Ward).

During the discussion, Gachagua highlighted that they talked about the current sentiments in the county and the people’s expectations regarding national matters. He added, “They also shared their suggestions on what we should do moving forward.”

Though Gachagua has not yet revealed his political intentions, his ongoing engagement with leaders across the country is viewed as an attempt to strengthen his influence in Mt Kenya and beyond.

Earlier on Saturday, Gachagua had met with a group of lawyers from the Law Society of Kenya. He shared, “This morning, at our Wamunyoro residence, I had the privilege of engaging in a candid discussion on our nation’s politics with a delegation from the Law Society of Kenya, led by Wakili Steve Mbugua.”

“It was a stimulating conversation that offered valuable insights into the complexities of our governance, covering areas from constitutional law to human rights. The lawyers provided diverse perspectives on how we can collectively promote and protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of all citizens. It’s clear that their expertise and experience will play an important role in shaping our plans moving forward.”
