Erling Haaland, one of the world’s premier strikers, has committed his long-term future to Manchester City, signing a new 10-year contract.1 Since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022, the 24-year-old Norwegian international has enjoyed remarkable success in his first two and a half seasons at the Etihad.
His debut season was nothing short of extraordinary, playing a pivotal role in City’s historic Treble-winning campaign (Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League). He shattered records along the way, scoring an unprecedented 52 goals across all competitions – the most ever by a Premier League player – and a record-breaking 36 league goals, earning him the Premier League Golden Boot. His individual accolades that season included the PFA Player of the Year, Premier League Player and Young Player of the Year, and the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year awards.

Haaland continued his impressive form last season, contributing significantly to City’s historic achievement of winning four consecutive top-flight titles – a first for an English men’s team. Despite missing nearly two months due to injury, he still managed an astonishing 38 goals in 45 appearances, including 27 in the Premier League, securing his second consecutive Golden Boot.3
His prolific scoring continues into the 2024/25 season, with 16 goals in just 21 Premier League appearances and 21 goals in 28 games across all competitions.4 He has already risen to 15th on City’s all-time top scorers list.
Haaland expressed his delight at signing the new deal: “I’m really happy to have signed my new contract and to look forward to spending even more time at this great Club. Manchester City is a special Club, full of fantastic people with amazing supporters, and it’s the perfect environment to bring out the best in everyone. I also want to thank Pep, his coaching staff, my teammates, and everyone at the Club who has helped me so much in the past couple of years. They have made this a special place to be, and I am now fully committed to City. I want to keep developing, keep working to get better, and do my best to help us achieve even more success.”

City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, shared the Club’s enthusiasm: “Everyone at the Club is absolutely delighted that Erling has signed his new contract. His long-term commitment demonstrates both our faith in him and his love for the Club. He has already made an incredible impact, and his remarkable statistics speak for themselves. Beyond his exceptional talent, Erling’s dedication, professionalism, humility, and constant drive for improvement embody what we strive for at Manchester City. He is one of the best strikers in the world, and still very young. Working under Pep and his team, he will only get better. If he continues to work hard, as I know he will, he will build an incredible legacy here. Now he can focus on his game and continue to play a vital role in our pursuit of further success.”
Manchester City are thrilled with the news and wish Haaland every success during his time with the club.
