Chinese retail chain China Square has opened a new store at Two Rivers Mall, further growing its presence in Kenya.
This new location adds to China Square’s expanding network of outlets, which already includes stores in Kenyatta University’s Unicity Mall, The Waterfront, Karen Mall, Lang’ata Hyper Mall, and two locations outside Nairobi: Nyali Bazaar Mall in Mombasa and Mega City Mall in Kisumu.
The Two Rivers store spans 7,500 square feet, making up 10 percent of the mall’s total floor space.
Managing Director Lei Cheng explained that the decision to open in Two Rivers was driven by the mall’s prime location and high foot traffic.
“We see great potential in this mall due to its accessibility,” he said.
Cheng also highlighted that the expansion is part of a larger strategy to position China Square as a major player in Kenya’s retail sector.
He further shared plans for continued growth, including the launch of a new outlet at Greenspan Mall in Donholm, Nairobi, scheduled for January 13.
Additionally, China Square has plans to extend its footprint to other cities across the country.
Centum CEO James Mworia noted that China Square’s entry into Two Rivers Mall has increased the mall’s occupancy rate to over 95%, reflecting a healthy retail environment.
“This will attract more line shops, further boosting the mall’s traffic and popularity,” he added.
