Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kilimani have apprehended Meshack Kipleting Tarbei, a notorious serial fraudster and the director of Motorshop E.A Ltd.
Kipleting had been evading authorities for over a year after allegedly defrauding numerous unsuspecting members of the public, stealing their hard-earned money.
Kipleting, whose office was based at Marsabit Plaza along Ngong Road, reportedly shut down his business and went into hiding after being accused of swindling at least nine individuals. Victims had reported their cases to Kilimani police, prompting a swift investigation.
Upon receiving the complaints, detectives launched an extensive manhunt for Kipleting, who was eventually tracked down and arrested at his hideout in King Serenity Estate, Rongai. He was immediately transported to the DCI Kilimani offices, where he is currently being processed. He will soon be arraigned in court to face fraud charges.
DCI Kilimani officials have expressed concerns that the number of victims may be higher, with some possibly having reported their losses at other police stations in Nairobi. Detectives are actively consolidating these reports to ensure that justice is served for all those affected by Kipleting’s fraudulent activities.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have fallen victim to Kipleting or who has additional information about his illicit operations to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
