KQ Suspends Flights to Comoros and Mayotte Due to Cyclone Threat

Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced the temporary suspension of its flights to Comoros and Mayotte due to the imminent threat of Tropical Cyclone CHIDO, which is expected to impact the two islands.

“Authorities in both countries have issued warnings regarding the cyclone, which is predicted to last until Monday, December 16, 2024,” KQ stated.

The airline explained that the suspension is necessary to ensure the safety of passengers and staff. “We deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause and assure our customers that their safety, as well as that of our staff, is our top priority,” KQ added.

KQ also expressed sympathy for the residents of the affected regions, offering prayers for their safety and well-being. “We are closely monitoring the situation and plan to resume flights on Monday, December 16, 2024, once the weather conditions improve,” it noted.

Passengers affected by the disruption are advised to check the latest flight updates on Kenya Airways’ website or contact the Customer Excellence Center via WhatsApp (+254 705 474 747) or X (formerly Twitter) @KQSupport.

The airline remains dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable travel experience for all its passengers.

Tropical cyclones, also known as hurricanes or typhoons depending on the region, are rapidly rotating storms that form over tropical oceans, varying in speed, size, and intensity. They are the second most dangerous natural disasters after earthquakes.
