Kenyans Granted Seven Days to Provide Feedback on Cabinet Secretary Nominees

Kenyans have until next Wednesday to submit their opinions on the suitability of the 10 Cabinet Secretary nominees before they undergo vetting.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has referred the nominees’ list from the President to the Committee on Appointments as of Tuesday.

According to a notice dated July 24 from Assembly Clerk Samuel Njoroge, members of the public are encouraged to submit written affidavits along with supporting evidence contesting the eligibility of any nominee.

All submissions should be delivered to the clerk’s office at Parliament, either in person or via email to sna@parliament.go.ke and appointments.nationalassembly@parliament.go.ke, by 5 pm on the specified day.

The House will determine the dates for the nominees’ interrogation sessions.

Wetangula confirmed in a press briefing on Monday that all nominees, including those being reappointed, will undergo vetting.

He emphasized that previous dismissal from the Cabinet does not automatically disqualify a nominee unless due to constitutional violations.

MPs have assured the public that the vetting process will be thorough and diligent.

President William Ruto announced half of his Cabinet on July 19, with six former Cabinet members among the nominees.
