Pray for Kenya! Kalonzo’s Christmas Appeal to The Nation

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka used his Christmas message to call on Kenyans to embrace prayer, unity and justice, while reiterating his dedication to public service and political reform.

In a statement issued on Christmas Eve, Kalonzo urged the country to engage in spiritual reflection, saying Kenya was in need of wisdom, healing and bravery during challenging times.

He encouraged Kenyans to pray for national leaders, for families in mourning, for justice for those who feel wronged, and for unity among the country’s diverse communities, as they marked the birth of Christ.

The former Vice President described his message as both a personal moment of reflection and a broader appeal to the nation’s conscience.

Kalonzo expressed gratitude to his family for their support throughout his long political journey and thanked friends and allies for standing with him in what he termed the struggle to build a better Kenya. He also appreciated Kenyans for remaining hopeful and steadfast.

Although largely framed around faith and goodwill, the message carried political overtones. Kalonzo called on citizens to find the courage to do what is right and repeated the opposition slogan “WANTAM,” a call for President William Ruto to serve only one term.

Kalonzo is a key principal in the United Opposition, which has emerged as the main alliance seeking to challenge President Ruto’s leadership. The coalition has increasingly centred its campaign on justice, accountability and the cost-of-living crisis.

Marking his birthday, Kalonzo also reaffirmed his commitment to serving the nation, saying his integrity had stood the test of more than four decades in public life and that his resolve to serve Kenyans remained firm.

The Wiper leader, who turned 71 on December 24, thanked Kenyans for their birthday messages, saying they brought him great joy and gratitude. He also acknowledged a birthday celebration hosted by Wiper Women Patriots, noting that their support and solidarity had renewed his strength.

Kalonzo reflected on his lengthy political career, which began with his election to Parliament in 1985. He served continuously until 2013, representing Kitui North and later Mwingi North, making him one of the country’s longest-serving MPs. He later served as Kenya’s tenth Vice President from 2008 to 2013.

He concluded with a message of hope for the festive season and the coming year, wishing Kenyans peace, joy and renewed optimism, and expressing confidence that the country would move closer to the Kenya its people aspire to build, under the slogan “Komboa Kenya.”
