KMPDU Condemns Attacks on Healthcare Workers

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has strongly criticized the assaults on healthcare workers.

They denounced what they described as brutal acts and excessive force used against medical professionals providing aid to injured demonstrators amidst protests against the finance bill.

In a statement released on Tuesday, KMPDU Chairperson Abidan Mwachi emphasized their commitment to thoroughly investigating these incidents and taking appropriate action.

Mwachi underscored the principle that medical personnel should remain impartial and dedicated to saving lives in all humanitarian situations.

He stressed the voluntary nature of these selfless acts of service and condemned any violence directed at healthcare workers involved in humanitarian efforts.

Additionally, KMPDU addressed the concerns of medical interns awaiting assignments, urging stakeholders to prioritize their interests in line with the 2015 KMPDU-government collective bargaining agreement.

Mwachi reaffirmed KMPDU’s solidarity in condemning violence against medical staff and called for an immediate halt to such attacks.

He reiterated their unwavering dedication to upholding the integrity of the medical profession and safeguarding the rights and safety of healthcare workers.
