In a concerted effort to bolster the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), teachers within the Kabati Catholic Diocese of Kitui in Kitui West received specialized training from multiple non-governmental organizations, spearheaded by the Vincent Munyoki Foundation.
The training, conducted at Kabati Parish, aimed to equip educators with essential skills to deliver optimal education under the new system.
Speaking to the press, Fr. Julius Mathamba of Kabati Parish underscored the significance of this initiative, pointing out the subpar performance of CBC schools in the parish attributed to teachers’ lack of requisite competencies for the revamped curriculum.
He urged the Kenyan government, particularly the Ministry of Education, to prioritize comprehensive training for CBC teachers, ensuring they are well-versed in the curriculum to provide high-quality education to students.
“Let us approach this training with unwavering dedication and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Together, we possess the power to effect substantial change in the lives of our students and contribute significantly to the advancement of education in our community and beyond,” emphasized Mathamba.
