In Kitui Rural, amidst the global celebration of International Women’s Day, women gathered at Kalulini, Kanyangi Ward, Kitui Rural Constituency in Kitui County to mark the occasion under the theme “Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress.”

Hellen Kasila, representing ADRA Kenya, graced the event, emphasizing that the day not only commemorates the historical achievements of women but also highlights the strides made in empowering them to assume significant roles in both government and community development.

Kasila noted the remarkable progress women have made globally in assuming leadership positions, shaping policies, and championing rights.

From heads of state to ministers and parliamentarians, women are driving change and ensuring diverse perspectives are represented in decision-making processes.

Highlighting women’s active engagement in community development, Kasila praised their efforts in addressing social issues, promoting education, and uplifting marginalized groups.

Despite these achievements, she acknowledged persistent barriers and inequalities women face in areas such as education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

Kasila urged women to recommit to the fight for gender equality, celebrate achievements, and collaborate to build a future where every woman and girl can thrive without discrimination or oppression.
