The construction of a new house for World Marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum, ordered by President William Ruto, is nearing its conclusion at Kiptum’s farm in Naiberi, Uasin Gishu county, ahead of his burial on Friday.
A team of engineers and workers have been stationed at the site to finalize the construction before Thursday, when Kiptum’s body will be transferred from the Eldoret Hospital morgue.
“We are maintaining our schedule and anticipate finishing the house by Thursday,” stated one of the engineers working on the project.
Meanwhile, a group of homicide investigators from DCI HQ has arrived in Eldoret to intensify the investigation into the accident that resulted in the death of the World Marathon record holder.
The investigative team is visiting locations where Kiptum was last seen before the fatal accident, including reconstructing his movements leading up to the incident.
Elgeyo Marakwet county police commander Peter Mulinge confirmed that the investigation is progressing as required.
Sources within the investigative team revealed that they are examining the scene of the accident near Flax on the Eldoret-Ravine Road and inspecting the vehicle involved, which was towed to Kaptagat police station.
