Embakasi Gas Explosion Death Toll Reaches Three

The death toll from the gas explosion in Embakasi has risen to three, with one more person succumbing to injuries sustained during the Thursday night fire.

Initially, two fatalities were confirmed in the explosive incident in Embakasi’s Mradi area, reported at Nairobi West Hospital. Several injured individuals were subsequently transported to various hospitals for treatment: Kenyatta Hospital received 21, Mama Lucy 160, Mbagathi Hospital 19, and Komarock Modern Hospital 14.

According to police reports, a lorry loaded with gas cylinders at a suspected illegal station exploded, igniting the significant fire that spread to neighboring buildings. Police Deputy Inspector General Douglas Kanja stated that investigations into the fire’s cause have commenced.

Authorities have arrested one person in connection with the incident.
