In Embakasi, Nairobi, a tragic incident unfolded as a 39-year-old man took his own life after killing his six-year-old daughter on January 19 in the Bamba 70 area.
The lifeless body of the young girl was discovered on a bed with severe cuts on her neck and around her ears. Subsequently, residents found the father, Samuel Njiru, 39, hanging from the roof of the same house.
Police, called to the scene, recovered a blood-stained kitchen knife, a suicide note, and a phone. The contents of the suicide note have not been disclosed. Both bodies were taken to the City mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei confirmed an ongoing investigation into the murder-suicide, urging families to engage in dialogue during conflicts.
