Former Busia Governor Ditches Raila for Ruto

Sospeter Ojaamong, the ex-governor of Busia, has officially joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Ojaamong made this announcement in the presence of President William Ruto at Machakus Primary School.

Ruto is currently in Teso for various engagements, including attending an interdenominational prayer meeting, launching development projects, and addressing rallies in Malaba town and Angurai.

During his declaration, Ojaamong expressed his belief that aligning with the government is a wiser decision than any other leadership choice. He declared his affiliation with UDA and expressed his anticipation of being actively involved in the government.

“From today, I’ve joined UDA, and I expect to be in government fully,” Ojaamong stated. “The best way to secure better development projects is by supporting the government.”

Ojaamong, a longstanding member and supporter of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) led by Raila Odinga, had served as the Amagoro MP for two terms before being elected as governor for another two terms.

Having been a dedicated member of ODM until two weeks ago, when he hinted at the possibility of joining UDA, Ojaamong’s decision to switch political affiliations has been met with approval from Sports CS Ababu Namwamba.

“Your Excellency Ojaamong has made a commendable decision. Let’s support him as he joins the UDA fold,” Ababu remarked.

The former governor’s announcement was met with applause from residents who seemed to endorse his decision.
