The Public Service Commission (PSC) has launched recruitment for interns under the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) for the 2026/27 financial year.
In a notice released Tuesday, July 28, the commission announced that this round falls under Cohort 9 of the PSIP, a government initiative aimed at empowering youth by giving college graduates practical work experience while boosting their employability, professional networks, and entrepreneurial capabilities.

According to the notice, the yearlong internship will primarily place interns within ministries, departments, state agencies, corporations, and public universities.
To be eligible, applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any field from a recognized university and must have graduated in 2020 or later. They are also required to demonstrate computer proficiency and must not have previously participated in a similar internship programme.
Once selected, interns will carry out duties assigned by their supervisors throughout their placement across government ministries, departments, agencies, corporations, and universities. Their responsibilities will include completing tasks mutually agreed upon with supervisors and documenting the skills gained during their deployment. Interns will also be expected to take part in mentorship activities and other tasks tied to the programme.
PSC noted that the internship will last 12 months, is non-renewable, and comes with a government-determined stipend. Those who successfully complete the programme will receive a certificate upon conclusion.
Qualified graduates interested in applying have been directed to submit their applications via the PSC job portal at publicservice.go.ke or psckjobs.go.ke. The application window closes on August 17, 2026.
