The visit will involve high-level meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation across sectors, expanding trade and investment, and reinforcing the strategic partnership between Kenya and Mozambique.

“This visit provides an opportunity for both leaders to review bilateral cooperation, discuss political, economic, social, peace, and security matters in their countries, across Africa, and globally,” said Mudavadi.

President Chapo will also attend the 4th Kenya International Investment Conference (KIICO) at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre as guest of honour, where he will promote investment opportunities in Mozambique to global investors, policymakers, and private sector leaders, according to Mozambique’s Foreign Affairs Minister Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas.

Earlier, during the 3rd Session of the Kenya–Mozambique Joint Permanent Commission for Cooperation (JPCC) in Nairobi, Mudavadi reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to deepening ties and achieving practical outcomes for both countries. He noted that the JPCC, established in 1991, remains a vital platform for dialogue and collaboration in key areas such as agriculture, education, energy, defence, trade, and investment.

Mudavadi highlighted the success of the second JPCC session in Maputo in 2023, which saw thirteen bilateral agreements signed, while emphasizing the need to operationalize outstanding technical committees, legal instruments, and trade facilitation measures.

He also praised the resumption of direct flights between Nairobi and Maputo in 2024, which has improved trade, tourism, and people-to-people connections, and called for addressing operational and logistical challenges to maintain reliable air links.

The Prime CS noted that Kenya-Mozambique cooperation extends beyond trade and energy into counterterrorism, maritime development, digital transformation, and tourism—sectors key to economic growth, regional integration, and sustainable development.
