High Court of Kenya has granted former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju anticipatory bail of Sh200,000 following his recent arrest.
The ruling was issued by Justice Martin Muya after Tuju and his co-applicant, Louiza Korros, filed an urgent application through their lawyer Gregg Ndege seeking to stop his arrest and continued detention.

In his decision delivered on Tuesday, Justice Muya ordered that both applicants be released on an anticipatory bond of Sh200,000 with one surety each, or an equivalent cash bail. The case will be mentioned again on April 7, 2026, for further directions.
The court also certified the matter as urgent and directed that the application be served to the respondents, including the Inspector General of Police, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Earlier, Tuju had moved to court seeking protection from what he termed as arbitrary arrest and detention. Through his lawyers, he requested orders to bar police and state agencies from summoning, arresting, or interfering with his freedom of movement.
He also asked to be granted bail on reasonable terms, citing a worsening medical condition and continued police presence at his hospital bed.
Court documents show that Tuju had presented himself at a police station to record a statement but was later detained without being formally charged.

His co-applicant alleged that he was mishandled during the process, worsening injuries from a previous accident. He was later admitted to hospital, where he remains under police guard despite not being arraigned in court.
His legal team argued that the continued police presence violates his rights, including dignity, liberty, and access to proper medical care, and urged the court to order authorities to allow him to receive treatment without interference.
