Wanga, Babu, Otiende Storm Tuju’s Dari Park Over Police Presence

ODM Chairperson Gladys Wanga, together with MPs Otiende Amolo (Rarieda) and Babu Owino (Embakasi East), on Saturday visited the Dari Business Park owned by former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju to show their support for him.

The leaders raised concerns about the continued presence of police officers at the premises and urged Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to reassess the deployment.

Speaking to journalists at the entrance of the multi-billion-shilling facility, Amolo questioned why officers were stationed at the property without a court order. He noted that he had come to support Tuju, who previously represented his constituency, and added that he is also acting as Tuju’s lawyer.

Amolo said they would respect any ruling made by the court but emphasized that, at the moment, there was no order authorising police presence at the premises. He appealed to the police to follow the correct procedures until such an order is issued, warning that the current situation could create uncertainty.

Owino also questioned the early-morning deployment of officers, saying disputes should be handled through the appropriate legal processes. He stated that he had visited the premises to stand in solidarity with Tuju.

Wanga did not address the media during the visit.

Other leaders present included Jimmy Wanjigi, leader of the Safina Party, and law professor PLO Lumumba.

Wanjigi described the scale of police presence at the property as excessive, saying Tuju had raised concerns about how the situation was being handled and that the delegation had come to support him.

Tuju told reporters that the situation had disrupted activities at the business park, noting that some tenants had been unable to access their premises and that businesses that rely on weekend customers were being affected. He added that he was seeking clarification on the procedures being followed, stating that no court order had been issued to permit the actions.
