The result takes Mexico to six points, confirming their qualification for the knockout stage while maintaining a perfect defensive record with no goals conceded so far.
South Korea, who had earlier staged a comeback win against the Czech Republic, were hoping to seal qualification with a win over Mexico but fell short. They will now need at least a draw in their final group match against South Africa to stay in contention.
In the other group fixture, South Africa and the Czech Republic played out a draw, with both sides earning their first point of the tournament. The outcome leaves both teams needing victories in their remaining matches to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Elsewhere, it was a tough day for Asian teams. Qatar suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat to Canada, highlighting struggles for Asian representatives against both hosts and their opponents in the competition.
