Ijara MP Organizes Football Tournament To Keep Youth Engaged And Combat Substance Abuse

Ijara Member of Parliament, Hon Ali Abdi Shekhow, has orchestrated a football tournament within the constituency to engage the youth and discourage them from substance abuse during the holidays.

He stated that the inaugural Sheikhow Super Cup tournament aims not only to divert the attention of idle youth but also to help them recognize their potential and cultivate their talents for potential opportunities with established teams and clubs.

This unique tournament, the first of its kind, commenced at Baraza Park Football Pitch in Masalani, drawing teams from various youth soccer clubs across all sub-counties for spirited competition.

The final match of the inaugural Sheikhow Super Cup featured Masalani Football Club against Young Boyz F.C., showcasing exceptional talent and thrilling fans and leaders in attendance.

Shekhow commended the participants for their outstanding football skills and encouraged idle youth and school leavers to embrace the sport as an alternative to engaging in harmful substances.

“Instead of focusing on drugs and idleness, we want them motivated to join your brother in soccer,” he emphasized.

Shekhow urged other political leaders, particularly in the North Eastern province, to follow his lead and organize similar tournaments in their respective constituencies to keep local youth actively engaged.

In the climax of the tournament, Young Boyz F.C. clinched the Sheikhow Super Cup title in a closely contested match against Masalani F.C., securing victory by a single goal and sparking joyous celebrations at Baraza Park Football Stadium.
