KUCCPS Opens Applications for TVET Courses for May 2026 Intake

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the opening of applications for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes for the May 2026 intake.

The application process targets students who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2025 as well as in previous years.

In a notice issued to candidates, KUCCPS said students can apply for courses offered in National Polytechnics, Technical Training Institutes, Institutes of Science and Technology, and other accredited technical colleges across the country.

The placement agency urged interested applicants to log in to the KUCCPS student portal and choose courses that match their interests and qualifications, noting that students with any KCSE mean grade can apply for various TVET programmes.

Applicants can access the portal through http://students.kuccps.ac.ke.

KUCCPS also clarified that the application opportunity is not limited to the 2025 KCSE candidates, as school leavers from earlier years are also eligible to submit their applications.

The application window will remain open until March 18, 2026, after which the placement process will begin.

TVET institutions across Kenya provide hands-on training in areas such as engineering, ICT, hospitality, construction and business, helping students gain practical skills required in the job market.

KUCCPS is a state corporation responsible for coordinating the placement of government-sponsored students to universities, colleges and TVET institutions.

Established under the Universities Act, the agency also offers career guidance, shares information about available courses and works to ensure fair access to higher education opportunities.

In addition, KUCCPS manages application processes, sets minimum entry requirements and places students in institutions based on merit, course preferences and available capacity.

Successful applicants will join accredited institutions in May 2026, where they will begin programmes designed to equip them with practical and technical knowledge in various fields.

The placement body also operates online platforms that allow students, parents and institutions to easily access placement services and programme information.

Through the Student Portal, applicants can view available institutions, explore courses offered and check the minimum entry requirements before submitting their applications.

Meanwhile, the Institution’s Portal is designed for university vice-chancellors, college principals and authorised representatives, enabling them to update programme capacities and institutional details to support the national placement process.

The portal also allows institutions to access placement-related data.

KUCCPS noted that the Principal’s Portal, which was previously used by secondary schools to submit applications for their KCSE candidates through the School/Centre Application system, was discontinued in 2023.

Schools seeking further information on the process have been advised to contact KUCCPS directly.

The placement service continues to encourage students and stakeholders to use its digital platforms to easily access placement services and information on academic programmes offered in institutions across the country.
