According to the report, the professor drove straight to the construction site and parked his vehicle about 15 metres from his gate. Minutes later, a loud bang was heard.
Upon checking, he discovered that the left side window of his car had been smashed, and a black bag containing the cash and a cheque book had been stolen.
Together with his worker, identified as Mwaura, the professor searched the surrounding area but found no trace of the suspects.

Due to the nature and timing of the incident, investigators are looking into the possibility of insider involvement at the bank.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and officers from Gigiri Police Station have visited the scene and are handling the case. No arrests have been made so far, and investigations are ongoing.

Police have urged members of the public to exercise caution when handling large amounts of cash and to promptly report any suspicious activity.
